Oglasea was the first city to be built on Thasenia because it was found that the soil was nearly magical in nature. Everything that was planted grew and spread like weeds, blooming horrifyingly fast. Corporate, seeing only dollar signs, immediately began work on a city that would be a field itself. Each buildings was architectured in such a way that they could be farmed vertically and be easily harvested by intentionally
designed machinery.
During construction, there were reports of numerous mysterious attacks, happening only an hour after sundown. The powers in charge saw the losses as necessary sacrifices and remained on the fast track to open Oglasea and fill it with happy citizens. The construction crew made the necessary adjustments and were allowed a few extra security droids, and they made do.
Oglasea opened, and nearly every night the first month, attacks were reported. It wasn't until people began fleeing from the city did Corporate listen. Panicked, they had the survivors gather at the coast, where they began construction of Saipidor. It was a slow process, and the Earth corporations were hemorrhaging money because of it.
Saipidor was built in despair and hope.
The colonists had been shut out of their first home and were struggling to find their place. They had lost hundreds on the exodus from the mountains to the coast, and now they were exhausted. After building makeshift shelters, they slept, knowing that for next foreseeable future, every second of their life would be work. And it was, for years, but the reward was worth it.
Their sprawling city of Saipidor was glorious, shining with redirected streams and waterfalls, glowing white from areas of marble and reflecting sunlight off the fountains. They had built the port first, in order to get the finest materials from Ria. Food was scarce, but scavengers and hunters found plenty. They grew small gardens to survive, then began plowing fields in the surrounding areas, overflowing into the valley. The soil was fertile, though not like the mountains. The valley ground had a hint of the same magic, and Corporate wished they had the funds to start another city like Oglasea. They began plans for Iyrefield, though it would not come to fruition for some time.
The coastal city continued to flourish and more colonists from Earth were begging to join. Soon every month there was a new batch, and Corporate could finally build their Iyrefield. Using the same architecture as Oglasea, they created their city farm wonderland. It grew like nothing they'd imagined, not to mention the money they made. The fields from Saipidor that spread into the valley were consumed by Iyrefield citizens, and they were hired to work them, being allowed to grow any produce they saw fit. The farmhouses they lived in weren't massive, but comfortable, always on a raised area so they could see their fields before them.
The mountain city of Oglasea, however, remained abandoned for these years and became overrun with wildlife and foliage. An inspiring sight, Corporate decided it was time to make up their losses. They had scouts go out in the darkness and find the predators that had driven them from their first home. Difficult to spot and even more difficult to track, all they were able to deduce was there were two different kinds of creatures. One ran on two raptor-like feet, and the other on four clawed paws – and there were thousands of them. Where they hid during the day was unsolvable.
Once they were able to fine-tune their boundaries and schedules, Corporate built a reasonably sized general store, a doctor's office and a restaurant in the middle of the mountains, then made a wall thicker and taller than any animal, alien or not, would be able to burst through. They found that as long as there were no gatherings bigger than a handful of people, the creatures stayed away, even at night. They were able to produce mass amounts of extremely efficient security droids, imprinted with all the knowledge they had of them.
Corporate begin allocating portions of land to colonists, all spaced apart to keep attacks at a minimum, although there were many corners cut. Each colonist or multiple, never more than three, that chose to come to Oglasea was given their own piece of lush farmland, along with one or two droids, depending on the area. They were assigned several fruits and vegetables to grow, alternating them between seasons. It was difficult, considering most of the work was done without a crew. Corporate sent in groups of brave volunteers during harvest season, but it was dangerous, and many farmers opted to harvest themselves. Many citizens of Oglasea reached to the other cities out for a live-in farmhand.
